Trial Lesson
If you’ve always wanted your kid to try sailing you found the right place. Book a non-binding hour with one of our instructors.
If it may be a little more, we recommend our Optimist trial course. The course contents is a slightly reduced version of the Optimist beginner course. It includes 6 hours of practice with an instructor and covers some basic theoretical aspects, although the focus is definitely more on practice. After completing, you can extend the course and do the basic junior license.
Kids Basic Course
The course is the introduction to sailing for our youngest. During the entire course, the children have an experienced sailing instructor of the VDWS directly at their side. Good swimming skills are a prerequisite. At completion, the children can decide for themselves whether they want to take the exam for the International Junior Sailing Basic License of the VDWS, the largest water sports association in the world (Extra €40.00).
They will learn basic sailing skills as well as gain catamaran specific competence:
- Reading the wind and water
- Courses to the wind
- Tacking
- Jibing
- Speed control
- Capsize and righting
- Parking
- Right of way
- Knowledge of the boat and it’s components
- Nautical knots
- Safety topics
Kids Advanced Course
This course is the perfect upgrade to the VDWS Junior Basic license. Depending on the level of knowledge, the course content is determined individually and thus builds on the junior’s actual skill level.
Possible content of the advanced course:
- Boat- weight and sail trim
- Wind Course training
- Maneuver training
- Strong wind training
- Helmsman and crew training
- Regatta tactics
- Righting methods
Catamaran Private Lessons
In private lessons the child is alone with the instructor. The instructor is always close by in the motor boat and can thus individually respond to the student. A more intensive way of learning is hardly possible. The children love to reach the set goals. Especially when the goal is the end of a dream bay and the way back. Afterwards your young one will be proudly showing your parents how he sails up and down the bay.
